Wedding Recap: Party Favors

Party favors. They're kind of a controversial thing. Some people love 'em, some people don't so much. Some people say they're necessary, some don't. I for one, think they're a great idea. But it has to be something appropriate.

In the past, I have gotten a variety of things as wedding favors. A drinking glass personalized with the couple's wedding date. A photo frame coaster with the couple's picture inside. A set of coasters. Assorted candies. A truffle. A paper filled with flower seeds. You name it, it has probably been done.

But like many things, I'm kind of opinionated about this. [i know, hard to believe.] I don't really need a single coaster with your photo in it. I don't really need a single drinking glass to go with my entire set. Those things are all wonderful, don't get me wrong. But something edible. Something that people will really use and/or enjoy. That's where it's at. I'm sure you saw this coming... but we gave assorted candies as our wedding favors.

One evening, my  mom and I put on our sweats and started our own little factory. We filled 300 little silver boxes with assorted candies, then wrapped each one with a colored ribbon and a Thank You tag. It took us way longer than we anticipated, but they turned out really well. And considering the fact that I didn't have one left over the following morning, I'd say our guests enjoyed them.

We also had a little something for all the kids in attendance. My mother-in-law put together personalized little gift bags to help keep the kids entertained. They were age appropriate and labeled for each child to help them feel a little more special.

We wanted our guests to enjoy a sweet treat to accompany them home,
and I think this was just the ticket!

Except I'm not so sure many weren't enjoyed before leaving for the night....

Wedding Recap: Snack Table

Let's be honest. I like snacks. Sweet and salty. Crunchy and chewy. I like it all.  So it was a no-brainer that we needed to include great snacks in our big day somehow.  We decided we would have a snack table during cocktail hour, prior to the reception.  We filled various glass containers with some of our favorites, and people grazed while enjoying drinks and company.  It must have been a hit, because there was nothing but crumbs at the end of the night!
